Frequently Asked Questions
Which guide should I read first?
If you are unsure whether you need an A15 or B125 channel — the most common domestic question — start with the A15 vs B125 guide. If you are selecting a channel for a project from scratch, the How to Choose a Channel Drain guide walks through the full selection process. If you need to understand load classifications before specifying, read Load Classes Explained.
Do these guides replace professional engineering advice?
No. The guides are designed to help you understand drainage terminology, ask the right questions and narrow down product options — they are not a substitute for professional engineering assessment. For projects involving highways, adopted drainage, structural loads, or commercial and industrial applications, you should engage a qualified drainage engineer or civil engineer. Forti Nova does not provide engineering design services.
What is EN 1433 and why does it matter?
EN 1433 is the European standard for drainage channels for traffic and pedestrian areas. It defines load classifications (A15 through F900), testing methods and marking requirements for linear drainage products. When a channel is described as B125 or D400, those designations refer to EN 1433 load classes. The standard matters because it allows products from different manufacturers to be compared on a consistent basis and gives specifiers a framework for selecting the appropriate product for the loading conditions of their project.
Is there a guide for commercial or industrial drainage?
The Load Classes Explained guide covers C250 (commercial) and D400 (road/heavy vehicle) classifications. The How to Choose a Channel Drain guide includes commercial selection considerations. For specific D400 or F900 project enquiries, contact our technical team directly — commercial and industrial drainage is typically specified with engineering input and our team can support the specification process.
