Choosing Between the B125 Systems
MAX B125 — Polypropylene Channel and Grate
A separate polypropylene channel and grate system measuring 1000 × 131 × 98mm externally, with M8 screw and locking-bolt grate fixing and dedicated matching fittings.
Domo B125 — Polymer Concrete
Polymer concrete body with ductile iron standard slot grate. A robust, heavier-duty option suited to driveways where material strength and durability are the priority. Standard slot grate — no heelguard pattern.
Hydro B125 — Deep Polypropylene
Polypropylene body with ductile iron standard slot grate. 100mm internal depth — suited where outlet pipe depth requires a deeper channel. Lightweight for a B125 system at 5,600g.
Alu Edge Slot B125
Aluminium edge pave/slot channel in the B125 range, with its own corner quad, bottom outlet and end cap.
Forti Nova Driveway Channel — Separate Range
A separate Forti Nova driveway channel family (SKUs 160010/160011/160013) with its own dedicated sump unit (160014). Distinct from the MAX B125 range. Contact us for full specifications, dimensions and pricing.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a B125 channel for my driveway?
If any vehicle will cross or park over the drain, a B125-rated channel is required as a minimum. A15 channels are rated for pedestrian use only — an A15 product driven over by a car risks cracking or structural failure. The specific product suitability depends on installation position, vehicle type, crossing frequency and the manufacturer's technical requirements.
What is the difference between polymer concrete and polypropylene for driveway drainage?
Polymer concrete channels such as the Domo B125 are heavier and generally more robust — preferred where strength and long-term durability are the priority. Polypropylene channels such as the Hydro and MAX B125 are lighter, easier to handle on site and often more economical for straightforward domestic driveway installations. Both materials are available in B125.
What is a heelguard grate and do I need one?
A heelguard grate has a tighter slot pattern than a standard slotted grate, preventing heel or bicycle wheel entrapment. Where both vehicles and pedestrians use the same surface — as is common on residential driveways — a heelguard grate is recommended. Check the manufacturer's guidance for the specific grate and channel combination.
Where exactly should I position a driveway channel drain?
The most common position is across the driveway at its lowest point — typically at the boundary between the driveway and the public pavement, to intercept water before it reaches the highway. Channels are also installed at the garage threshold and at any change of gradient where water would otherwise pool. Positioning affects both hydraulic performance and whether B125 loading applies at that point.
What accessories do I need for a driveway channel run?
A complete installation typically requires channel sections, grates, a sump unit at the low point to collect debris, at least one end cap outlet connecting to the underground drain pipe, and end caps to close the run terminations. A sump basket allows maintenance without excavation. Contact us to confirm the right components for your specific channel product family before ordering.
Can I use an A15 channel at the edge of my driveway?
Only if no vehicle wheel will cross that section. If vehicles track along the edge or turn across the channel at any point, B125 is required throughout the loaded section. If the channel is genuinely in a pedestrian-only zone at the driveway margin, an A15 system may be appropriate — verify with the manufacturer's installation guide for the specific product.
What depth should a driveway channel be installed at?
Installation depth is determined by the finished surface level and the invert level of the underground outlet pipe. The top of the grate should sit flush with or fractionally below the finished surface. Each product has a specific overall depth — check that the available installation depth accommodates the channel before ordering.
Is surface water drainage required for a new driveway?
In England and Wales, planning guidance and Building Regulations generally require new or replacement driveways to manage surface water on site or discharge to an appropriate drainage system rather than onto the public highway. Channel drainage is the standard approach for impermeable driveway surfaces. Seek independent planning and building control advice for your specific project.
Is B125 sufficient if an HGV occasionally uses the driveway?
B125 is intended for residential driveways with standard cars and light vans. If HGVs, heavy delivery vehicles or commercial plant will cross the channel — even occasionally — a higher load class (C250 or D400) may be required for those sections. Contact our team with vehicle details for guidance before specifying.
Can I mix different B125 products on the same run?
Mixing products from different families on the same run is not recommended — accessories, joint profiles and dimensions vary between product families, and an incorrect join can create a weak point. If your run requires products from different sections, contact us to confirm compatibility before ordering.
